On Wednesday, July 16th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on Tylee Ashaun Powell, 26, of Cumberland, MD. The summons was in reference to an incident that occurred on June 6th, 2025, in the area of N. Centre St and Pershing St. During that incident, an officer with the Cumberland Police was flagged down by a subject who advised they had just been assaulted by Powell, who had fled the area on foot. As a result, an application for charges was submitted to the District Court for charges and a Criminal Summons was issued related to the incident. On this date, Powell was served the summons and released, pending trial in District Court.

CHARGES - Assault 2nd Degree.
On Wednesday, July 16th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on Sandra Kay Nelson, 62, of Cumberland, MD. The summons was in reference to an incident that occurred on June 15th, 2025, in the 10 block of W. Second St. During that incident, it is alleged that Nelson engaged in a verbal altercation with a subject over the placement of trash cans. During the argument, it was also alleged that Nelson displayed a knife and threatened the victim. As a result, an application for charges was submitted to the District Court for charges and a Criminal Summons was issued related to the incident. On this date, Nelson was served the summons and released, pending trial in District Court.

On Wednesday, July 16th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on Michael Kevin Gillotti, 67, of Cumberland MD. The summons was in reference to a hit and run M/V crash that occurred on July 6th, 2025, in the 700 block of Bedford St. During the incident it was learned that Gillotti had been operating a m/v when he struck an unoccupied, parked vehicle. It is alleged that Gillotti made no attempt to contact the owner or remain on the scene and contact police. It was also found that Gillotti's vehicle was uninsured at the time of the crash. As a result, an application for charges was submitted to the District Court for charges and a Criminal Summons was issued related to the incident. On this date, Gillotti was served the summons and released, pending trial in District Court .

On Monday, June 12th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police served a Criminal Summons on Preston Ernest McLaughlin, 70, of Cumberland MD. The summons was in reference to an incident that occurred on June 11th, in the area of Queen City Drive. During that incident, it is alleged that McLaughlin was observed kicking a dog owned by him who had gotten off a leash. It is also alleged that he then assaulted a female subject who was attempting to help him secure his loose dog. McLaughlin was served the summons and released, pending trial in District Court.

Charges: Assault 2nd Degree, Disorderly Conduct, Animal Cruelty.
