CRIMINAL SUMMONSES SERVED

On Sunday, June 23, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served criminal summonses on Mina Day, Lazaya Lee, Mariah Lee, and Lya Smith.  The summonses were issued in connection with an assault investigation that began on June 22, 2024.  On this date between 6:10 AM and 7:36 AM AM, officers responded to multiple locations throughout the city for suspects spraying victims with a fire extinguisher.  The multiple victims reported that the suspects would drive by in a vehicle and spray them.  At approximately 7:43 AM, police located the suspect vehicle traveling in the area of Park Street and Baltimore Street.  Officers conducted a traffic stop and identified the four suspects.  Evidence was located linking them to the assaults. It was learned that the suspects stole the fire extinguisher from a business on Park Street prior to committing the assaults.    Charges were filed against them at the District Court of Allegany County.  Mina Day, Lazaya Lee, Mariah Lee, and Lya Smith signed for their copies and were released pending trial.

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served criminal summonses on Onyka Crabtree and Madison MacDonald.  The summonses were issued as the result of an incident that occurred on May 13, 2024.  On this date at approximately 9:38 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the first block of Pennsylvania Avenue for a disturbance.  When officers arrived, they observed a large amount of the neighborhood residents observing the disturbance being created.  Onyka Crabtree and Madison MacDonald were two of the parties that were contacted during the disturbance.  After further investigation and review of video evidence, it was determined that charges would be filed against Crabtree and MacDonald.  Police applied for charges at the District Court of Allegany County.  Crabtree and MacDonald signed for their copy of the summons and they were released pending trial.
