On Thursday, December 16, 2021 at approximately 7:50 PM, Cumberland Police responded to an Oak Street residence in reference to a domestic disturbance. The victim reported that the suspect, Todd Lee Shaffer, had assaulted her. The victim had sustained visible injuries. Shaffer was placed under arrest and transported to the police station for processing. He was then transported to Central Booking at the Allegany County Detention Center. He was later released on his personal recognizance.

On June 11th, 2020, The Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of Columbia Ave to check on the well being of a female who had possibly been assaulted. Upon arrival, Officers contacted a witness who advised they had overheard an altercation between a male and female outside the home. Officers then checked the residence and observed the male subject, Kevin Paul Bailey, hiding in the back yard and attempting to leave the property through a fence. Contact was made with Bailey and it was learned that he was in violation of pre-trial release conditions set upon him by the District Court. As a result, Bailey was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. Bailey was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was released on a $2500 unsecured bond.
