Cumberland Police make Burglary Arrest

On Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at approximately 1:00 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 300 block of Frederick Street for a male suspect attempting to gain entry to a residence.  Upon arrival, police contacted the suspect, Aaron Clevenger, who was not cooperative.  Clevenger then attempted to gain entry to another residence in the officer’s presence.  Officers stopped Clevenger and detained him for questioning. After further investigation, Clevenger was placed under arrest and transported to the police station. He was transported to Central Booking and is awaiting his initial appearance.

CHARGES:  Burglary-4th Degree, Disturbing the Peace-Loud Noise (x2)

On 4/22/2018 the Cumberland City Police responded to the 100 block of Polk Street for a breaking and entering complaint. Upon arrival officers were advised by a witness that a male had entered a residence through an open window. Officers checked the residence and located Edwin James Bass inside. Bass told officers that he was homeless and he did not have permission to be in the residence. Bass was arrested without incident. Bass was taken before a District Court Commissioner and held without bond.
