Cumberland Police Make Disorderly Conduct Arrest

On August 26, 2023 Officers of the Cumberland Police were dispatched to Virginia Avenue for a large disturbance. Officers arrived and observed a disturbance with multiple people yelling. Officers ordered the group to stop yelling and to stop creating a disturbance. Officers were able to diffuse the situation and began their investigation. One male subject refused to speak with Officers and continued walking toward the other group. He was asked numerous times to stop but refused. The male was later identified as Craig Allen Ritchie Jr. Mr. Ritchie then attempted to push past another Officer, in an attempt to reach the other group. Ritchie was then placed in hand restraints and transported to Police Headquarters.  Ritchie was issued two criminal citations and released.

Arrest: Craig Allen Ritchie Jr., age 30, Frostburg Maryland.

Charges: Disorderly Conduct and Failure to Obey.

The Cumberland Police responded to a residence on the 400 block of York Place for a report of a disturbance. While on scene, officers contacted David Linn Riley Jr, age 62 of Cumberland, MD. Riley was disturbing a female at that address. He was instructed to cease his behavior. After clearing the scene, they were called back two additional times for Riley. Riley was placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Fail to Obey a Lawful Order. He was issued Criminal Citations and released from the Police Station.

Charges: Disorderly Conduct, Fail to Obey a Lawful Order

 

 

Traffic Arrest

 

On January 15, 2021 the Cumberland Police were called to a business on Greene St for a report of a possibly intoxicated driver. Upon arrival, the vehicle had left the scene. An officer located the vehicle a short time later and observed several traffic violations. The officer initiated a traffic stop and observed signs of impairment. The operator was arrested and issued several traffic citations.
