September 11th, 2022 by WCBC Radio

Gas prices continue to drop here in Maryland with the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded $3.54 per gallon, which is almost 20 cents below the national average. Allegany County has among the highest prices in the state at $3.94 per gallon with Garrett even higher at $3.96.

After falling for 123 consecutive days, the national average price for gasoline reversed course slightly this week.  The national average cost for regular unleaded gasoline ticked upward to $2.05 per gallon Friday, up a penny from the previous week, yet prices remain 22 cents less than one month ago and $1.23 less than one year ago.  This downward trend reversal has been largely reflective of a number of Midwestern states where prices have moved higher over the past week due to a series of refinery issues in the region. Fortunately, Maryland’s average price has continued to fall, but the rate of decline has slowed in recent days. The State average for regular gasoline is $2.09 per gallon, which reflects a six cents drop from last week, 36 cents decline from last month, and is $1.27 per gallon cheaper than the cost on this date last year. Cumberland dropped to $2.20- down four cents from a week ago
