Maryland saw another week of small declines at the pump, with most regions in the state seeing prices drop three to four cents. Outliers were Hagerstown, which saw no change week over week, and Annapolis and Baltimore where prices declined five cents. Cumberland prices dropped a penny. However, according to the Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) latest report, demand for gasoline has increased and that, along with a decrease in crude oil and gasoline inventories, could slow or reverse the recent decline we are seeing locally at the pumps.
The gas price average in Maryland today is $2.78, down three cents from last week, up respectively seven cents in the last month, and 78 cents from this date last year.
Today’s national gas price average is $2.87, up a penny in the last week, up eight cents in the last month, and up 90 cents from this time last year.
The national gas average has not hit $3 since October 31, 2014. The next closest date was in May 25, 2018 at $2.96. Maryland’s gas average has not hit $3 since October 26, 2014.
