Gas prices across Maryland saw a variety of movement this week. Drivers in most Maryland markets saw an increase of a few cents while drivers in Cumberland and Hagerstown saw a decrease of a few cents. The gas price average in Maryland today is $2.31, up respectively five cents from last week and seven cents in the last month and down 16 cents from this date last year.
A decrease in East Coast gasoline inventories, a very short interruption of the Colonial Pipeline due to Hurricane Delta last Friday and possible heightened retailer supply concerns may have caused the increase. Nationally, a new weekly report from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), showed gas demand decreased, which contributes to pump price declines. Prices will likely continue to drop as demand drops due to fewer road trips taken in the fall.
Today’s national gas price average is $2.17, down respectively a penny in the last week, a penny from last month and, 48 cents from this time last year.

Drivers throughout Maryland haven’t seen much change at the pump in the last week or the last month. The gas price average in Maryland today is $2.27, unchanged in the last week, down respectively seven cents in the last month and 38 cents from this date last year. Crude oil supplies declined this week as supplies of gasoline increased, creating further volatility in the market. Today’s national gas price average is $2.18, unchanged in the last week, down respectively a penny in the last month and 54 cents from this time last year.
