On Friday, October 13, 2023 at approximately 11:28 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of Grand Avenue and E. Third Street for a possible assault taking place inside of a vehicle. Upon police arrival, a male subject exited the vehicle and began to walk away. Officers contacted the male and identified him as Benjamin Reimer. Reimer reported that he had been arguing with the female inside the vehicle. Police contacted the female who reported that she had been assaulted by Reimer. Officers observed the female to have injuries consistent with her statement. Reimer was placed under arrest and transported to Central Booking. He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $2,000 bond.

On Sunday, June 18th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 400 block of Grand Ave for the report of an assault. Upon arrival on scene, officers contacted the victim of the alleged assault. The victim advised that a verbal argument had occurred inside the home over missing medication. The victim advised the argument then escalated and turned physical. It was at that time, the victim alleged they were struck in the face, causing visible facial injuries. As a result of the investigation, Deron Michael Elbin, 48, was placed under arrest. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was released on a $5,000 unsecured personal bond
