On April 13th, 2023, deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office were alerted of a possible domestic assault victim. Deputies were able to locate and speak with the victim at an undisclosed location. Investigating deputies learned that a female victim had allegedly been assaulted on the evening of April 12th, 2023 at her Orleans, MD residence by Lucas Leroy Coleman, (43 of Orleans, MD).
The victim reported that during the assault Lucas had attempted to strangle her with a belt, and cut her legs using a razor. Lucas allegedly removed the rear tire from the victim's vehicle to prevent her escape. After deputies observed injuries consistent with the victim’s statements they traveled to Orleans home in an attempt to take him into custody.
Deputies would later locate him in his vehicle on Mountain Road, Orleans, MD. Upon contact with him, Lucas prevents several signs of possible impairment by alcohol and/or drugs. After the completion of field sobriety testing, Lucas was placed under arrest. A search of his vehicle revealed that Lucas was in possession of a Smith and Wesson, and a Glock handgun both of which were loaded.
Lucas was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center. He was later ordered held without bail after an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
