Induction Ceremony of the Allegany High School Chapter of the National Honor Society

Forty-four junior and senior students from Allegany High School were inducted into membership of the National Honor Society (NHS) in October in front of parents, staff, students, and guests. Honored guests included Superintendent of Allegany County Public Schools, Mr. Jeffrey Blank; President of the Allegany County School Board, Mrs. Crystal Bender; and Allegany High School Principal, Mrs. Heidi Laupert. Induction was held in the Theatre and observable via live-stream school-wide to the entire study body. The new members joined 35 current senior members who were inducted last year and have remained members in good standing. Conducting the school-wide ceremony were Anna Martz, President; Kathryn Loar, Vice-President; Sofiia Kucher, Secretary/Historian; and Emily Metheny, Treasurer.


New members meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character were selected by a committee of faculty members following an extensive paperwork and verification process. Seniors inducted were Claire Breighner, Jordan Chaney, Isabel Cramer, Allison Kimble, Kateria McKenzie, Logan Meader, Aidan Paulman, Ava Pyles, Alex Rodriguez, Brianna Sarver, and Daniel Schneider.


Juniors inducted were Dean Arnold, Clay Brode, Madison Burgess, Paeton Buser, Madison Cage, Camee Duckworth, Cole Fiscus, Matthew Flanagan, Tess Gibson-Thoele, Daniel Gregory, Abigail Grove, Bailee Haislip, Makenna Keith, Alexander Kennell, Ayden Leith, Audrey Litman, Eli Litman, Arianna Lopez, Matthew Lowery, Griffen Madden, Peyton McDonald, Chase McKenzie, Jonathan Nelson, Marissa Parker, Samantha Preaskorn, Zoey Rhodes, Savannah Roach, Madison Ruhl, Lya Smith, Anika Stylinski, Charlotte Taylor, Andrew Watkins, and Alyssa Yost.


Two-year senior members inducted last year and who have remained members in good standing are Bailey Albright, Genevieve Batman, Darian Bauer, Liam Brady, Rachel Bush, Madelyn Cook, Madelyn Cornell, Jocelyn Crabtree, Lauren DeBlock, Darion Donaldson, Emilee Dye, Paul Haberlein, Patrick Joseph, Hailey Kagarise, Ryland Kienhofer, Sofiia Kucher, Emma Lawrence, Kathryn Loar, Noah Logsdon, Anna Martz, Marissa Martz, Emily Metheny, Erica Metheny, Robert Moffett, Sydney Nines, Avery Painter, Brianna Palasik, Phoebe Puffenbarger, Kenlee Ritchey Drake Rose, Kathryn Schram, Faith Stevenson, Olivia Thomas, Alexa Uphold, and Daniel Vozhol. 


The speaker for the ceremony was Principal of Allegany High School, Heidi Laupert. The Faculty Council at Allegany High School includes co-advisors Dr. Lori Brown and Dr. Kay Sheehe along with James Bucy, Betsy Geiger, Kevin Wallace, and Desiree Witt.


The National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students. Chapters exist in three-fourths of the nation’s high schools and, since 1921, millions of students have been selected for membership. The Allegany High School Chapter, now in its 68th year, originated in 1954.
