Police Make Arrest After Disturbance Call

On November 17th, 2021 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 200 block of East Industrial Boulevard for a reported disturbance. Upon officer’s arrival they spoke with the complainant who advised that Reginel Dechalus would not leave the residence. Officers were able to have Decahlus leave the residence, and ordered him not to return. A short time later officers responded back to the residence where Dechalus had returned. Decahlus was placed under arrest for failing to obey a lawful order and trespassing. He was later released on criminal citations, and awaits his trial at District Court.

 

Arrest: Reginel Dechalus, age 36, Cumberland Maryland.

Charges: Fail to Obey, Trespassing.

On Monday at approximately 10:30 PM the Cumberland City Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of Frederick Street for a disturbance. Upon arrival officers spoke to the victim and learned that they were inside their vehicle when they were assaulted by Melissa Ann Vanmeter. Ms. Vanmeter then stood behind the vehicle not allowing the victim to leave. Officers contacted an independent witness who observed Ms. Vanmeter standing behind the vehicle causing a disturbance. Ms. Vanmeter was arrested and taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance. Ms. Vanmeter was released on her personal recognizance pending trial in District Court.

 

Arrested – Melissa Ann Vanmeter (50) Cumberland, MD

Charges – Assault 2nd Degree, False Imprisonment, Disturbing the Peace
