On 9-14-22 the Cumberland Police responded to a residence on the 200 block of N. Centre St for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival they contacted a female and a male inside the residence. Through the investigation, it was learned that the male had assaulted the female, resulting in visible injuries. Based on the presence of injuries, Joshua Dale Smith, age 32, of Keyser, WV was placed under arrest and charged with Second Degree Assault. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance and held on $1,000 bond.

On November 4th, 2020 Officers responded to a Centre Street address for a reported assault. Upon officers arrival they observed a victim to be lying in the roadway. Officers attempted to speak with the victim but due to their condition the officers were unable to do so. The victim was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Officers spoke with witnesses who advised that Tara Rene Athey had struck the victim in the head with a bottle. Tara was placed under arrest for assault first degree, assault second degree, and disorderly conduct. Tara was taken before a District Court Commissioner where she was held without bond.
