Police Make Theft Arrest

On January 23rd, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 400 block of Goethe Street for a theft complaint. Upon officers arrival they spoke with the victim who advised that a male suspect had stolen a large ceramic piggy bank containing a large amount of US currency and a wheelbarrow. The victim provided a description of the suspect and officers were able to locate Joshua Buzzard matching the description. Buzzard admitted to taking the piggy bank and was placed under arrest. Officers continued their investigation and were able to recover the stolen property. Buzzard was then released after being issued Criminal Citations.


Arrest: Joshua Ray Buzzard, age 42, Cumberland Maryland.

Charges: Theft $100-$1,500, Destruction of Property.

On October 11, 2018 at 5:00 pm, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 2000 block of Bedford St. for a theft complaint. While enroute to the complaint, officers were provided a description of the suspect later identified as Robert Ambrosio, age 27 of Denver, North Carolina.  When officers arrived on the scene they located Ambrosio in the parking lot of the business. Officers began investigating the incident and learned that Ambrosio had placed several items into his backpack and left the store without paying.  Officers were able to recover the items and placed Ambrosio under arrest. Ambrosio was charged on a Criminal Citation for theft under $100 and released pending trial in District Court.
