On Saturday, August 30, 2025 at approximately 1:00 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department was patrolling Queen City Drive when he observed Christopher Freeman in possession of an open alcohol container. Freeman was then seen consuming the contents and throwing the container on the ground. The officer contacted Freeman, placed him under arrest for littering, and transported him to police headquarters. Freeman was very uncooperative during the arrest process and refused to listen to officers. He was then transported to Central Booking. He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

On Monday, June 24th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police received an online tip of a black in color Chevrolet Suburban operating recklessly in the area of Queen City Drive. Video of the incident showed the vehicle being operated by a white male, spinning tires and driving erratically. A short time later, officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Linden St for the report of a disturbance. Once on scene, it was learned that the individuals involved in the disturbance had left the area in a vehicle matching the aforementioned vehicle. As the investigation continued, Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle, being operated by Just James, 25, of Cumberland MD. As a result of the investigation, James was placed under arrest for numerous traffic and criminal offenses. James was taken before the District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was released on his own recognizance.

Charges: Driving while Intoxicated, Driving while Under The Influence, Reckless Driving, Hit & Run, Other related traffic charges.
