The Snow Emergency Plan for all of Allegany County went into effect today, Tuesday December 2, 2025 at 0640 hours because of anticipated hazardous driving conditions, caused by snow. When the Plan is in effect, all vehicles traveling on designated state Snow Emergency Routes must be equipped with chains, snow tires, or all-season radial tires. Vehicles parked on Snow Emergency Routes are subject to removal/impound.
Please do not call the State Police or any other police agency for road or weather conditions. These types of calls will tie up police phone lines and prevent true emergency calls from getting through, and could jeopardize someone’s life. Instead, monitor your local media outlets, or go to www.md511.org for current conditions.
