South Cumberland Halloween Parade cancelled

September 9th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The South Cumberland Business and Civic Association’s annual Halloween Parade will not be held this year due to the COVID-19 pendemic. The following statement was issued by association president David Goad:

The South Cumberland Business and Civic Association’s “Marsha L. Thomas Memorial” Halloween Parade will not be held again this year.

I regard to the current coronavirus outbreak our parade committee and the executive board members of the association made a tough decision to cancel in the interest of all participating parade members and the attending public.

Furthermore, the education of our youth has become primarily virtual and extracurricular activities are postponed, there will be no bands and the some holds true for area athletics, their cheerleaders, and dance teams.

We are positive everyone will understand it’s not an easy decision to cancel this event held over the last 70 years once again this year.

The South Cumberland Business and Civic Association appreciates your support and understanding during this unfortunate pandemic.
