Traffic Stop Leads to CDS Arrest

On Saturday, May 14, 2022 at approximately 9:04 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Centre Street and identified the operator as Eric Divelbliss.  The officer requested a K-9 to respond.  A scan was conducted and the K-9 alerted to the odor of CDS in the vehicle.  The vehicle was searched and a quantity of controlled dangerous substances was located.  Divelbliss was arrested and transported to the police station for processing.  He was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial at the District Court of Allegany County.

On Thursday, September 2nd, 2021 a Cumberland Officer stopped a vehicle on Industrial Blvd. for an equipment violation.  A Maryland State Police K-9 assisted with the stop and performed a scan of the vehicle which resulted in a positive alert.  A search of the vehicle and occupants was conducted and a quantity of suspected heroin, CDS paraphernalia, and hypodermic syringes were recovered from the vehicle.  Rear passenger, Michael Richard Herndon, claimed ownership of the CDS and was arrested.  He was charged with CDS possession of paraphernalia, CDS possession of controlled paraphernalia, and CDS possession not marihuana.  He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was released on his own personal recognizance pending trial.
