Police arrest Two for Welfare Fraud, One for FTA

On Sunday the Cumberland City Police arrested Stephen Michael Schalizki Jr, 33, of Cumberland MD. Schalizki was arrested on an outstanding Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court. The Warrant alleged that Schalizki failed to appear in District Court on June 22nd, 2022, on a previous charge of Driving on a Suspended License. Schalizki was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was released on his own personal recognizance. Later, police arrested Andrew Jacob Getz, 42, and Amy Lynn Schadt, 43, both of Cumberland MD. Both subjects were arrested on outstanding arrest warrants stemming from an incident that occurred on June 7th, 2022. During this incident, it is alleged that stole a debit card belonging to an acquaintance of the two suspects. Getz and Schadt then used the card fraudulently to withdraw funds from the victim’s account. As a result of the investigation, arrest warrants were issued for both subjects. Both Getz and Schadt were taken before the District Court Commissioner for their Initial Appearance. Schadt was released on her own personal recognizance. Getz was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center where he is currently being held on $5,000 bond. On Friday  the Cumberland Police served an Arrest Warrant and Body Attachment on Christian Liller, age 39 of Cumberland.  The Arrest Warrant stemmed from Liller failing to appear in Circuit Court on January 14, 2020, for the charge of harassment.  The Body Attachment from Circuit Court stemmed from Allegany County Child Support.  Liller was held without bond on the Circuit Court Warrant, and on $100 bond for the Body Attachment.

Also Friday, Police Served Arrest Warrants on Aryssa Beasom, age 18, and William Thorne IV, age 19, both of Cumberland.  Both Warrants stem from a July 1, 2019 theft investigation where Beasom and Throne were identified as suspects.  Subsequent video and positive identification by the victim lead to the investigators applying for charges in District Court.  Consequently, Arrest Warrants were issued for both Beasom and Thorne charging them both with theft $100 to $1500.  They were later provided their Initial Appearance Hearings and both were released on their own recognizance.
