590,922 Voters Have Requested Mail-In Ballots for 2026 General Election

Maryland State Board of Elections (SBE) announced today that 590,922 Maryland voters have requested mail-in ballots to date for the 2026 Gubernatorial General Election. The total includes voters who requested ballots delivered by mail as well as those who requested print-at-home ballots via email. SBE will begin mailing ballots to voters who requested delivery by mail on Saturday, September 19. Ballots sent by mail are expected to be delivered within five days.

Voters can still request a mail-in ballot. To receive a ballot via mail or fax, your request must be received (not just mailed) or submitted online by Tuesday, October 27. To receive one via email, submit your request online no later than Friday, October 30. Voters can verify that their local board of elections received their mail-in ballot request and can track the status of their ballot by visiting SBE’s voter look-up website. To receive and vote a mail-in ballot for all future Federal and State elections, sign up for the permanent mail-in ballot list using the mail-in ballot application. To return your voted mail-in ballot, the ballot must be postmarked by or before 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. If returned by hand, ballots must be dropped at a secure ballot drop box or local board of elections by 8 p.m. November 3. A list of official drop box locations can be found at vote.md.gov/vote2026.

“Mail-in ballots are a secure, legal, and convenient way to cast your vote,” said State Administrator Jared DeMarinis. “If you plan to cast a mail-in ballot in this election, be sure to request one before the deadline.”
