A possibly record heat wave will be hitting the area this week with temperatures soaring into the 90s with heat indexes over 100 degrees. Caution should be taken by those with health issues, and the elderly. Not to be forgotten is the family pet. Jen Lohin from Uptown Hound in LaVale says there are cooling vests and beds available and that pet walks should be limited…

“The asphalt heats up incredibly quickly. So, if you’re going to take Rover for a walk, you want to do it early in the morning when the asphalt is cool. Even at night, try to go places where it’s a little bit more shaded because that asphalt takes a lot longer to cool down.”
