City Revises Film Ordinance Draft

After consulting state and local officials, the Cumberland Mayor and City Council revised their proposed Film Ordinance.  In the new draft, permits are required only if a street or public space needs to be shut down with a fee of $150 at the time of the request.  Ashley Workman from the County shared feedback from the state with the City regarding the 30-day deadline which has been revised as well, according to City Administrator Jeff Silka…

“For applications that go under ‘Permit Requirements’ for filming shall be submitted to the City as soon as possible prior to the start date upon which City services are needed or property needs to be requested.  She got some negative feedback from the state office about the thirty-day requirement.  What we’ll do is we’ll try to fit it in, but this kind of softens it up if anyone doesn’t review our ordinance.”
