Columbia Street Disturbance Arrest

On Friday, July 24, 2026, at 12:30 AM the Cumberland Police Department was dispatched to the 300 block of Columbia Street for a large disturbance. Upon arrival, officers observed Lamar Tate advancing towards several subjects in a threatening manner. An officer grabbed Tate’s arm but he continued his actions. Tate was placed under arrest after a brief struggle. Officers were advised of an alleged assault that took place, which the Cumberland Police Department is still investigating. Additional charges may be pending once the investigation concludes. Tate was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center for central booking. Tate is awaiting his hearing before a District Court Commissioner at the time of this release.
