Cumberland On Year 30 Of National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer celebrates 75 years in 2026.  The Cumberland area has been involved with the event for 30 years this May. Pastor Jim Jeffries of LaVale Baptist Church spoke with WCBC about this year’s event scheduled for May 7^th. He said locally, there has been a daily event to lead up to the main observance….

“We’re celebrating our 30 years of the National Day of Prayer locally with 30 days of prayer and churches from around the area are joining in and signing up for a day of prayer. There’s churches doing block parties, hymn sings, meeting in coffee shops. We had a prayer vigil at city hall to kick it off.”
