Data Center Expansion on Frederick County Ballot

Frederick County, Maryland voters will be able to make their voice heard on a referendum question about data centers. Over 20,000 signatures enabled the question to be put either to a special election or on the November ballot. At issue is an ordinance that would expand the current Eastalco data center complex by 1,000 acres. The Frederick County Data Center Referendum Committee said voters are concerned over land, water, and climate impacts from the data center expansion.
