Day of Caring & Sharing This Friday

For the 29th year, the Potomac Highlands United Way along with Let’s Beautify Cumberland will be out in force to spruce up areas in the city and county. This Friday, over 500 volunteers in their bright blue shirts will be working on 54 projects to clean up, plant and refresh different areas. Michele Walker with the United Way told WCBC about some of the locations…
“A new project this year which used to be included in the Day of Caring and Sharing and I’m glad to see it come back is cleanup being done on the Decatur Street corridor. Most of them are beautification projects – a lot throughout the different parklets in the City of Cumberland, Constitution Park, some of the sports complexes.”
Walker said the weather has, overall, been very kind to the Day of Caring and Sharing…
“In 29 years, I can count on one hand the number of times it’s rained and only twice have we had like thunderstorms and lightning. So, we’ve been very fortunate. It usually starts raining once we’re done.”
