Delegate Howell presents a Grant to Mineral County Instructor

Delegate Gary Howell presents a Legislative Grant to Mineral County Technical Center Welding Instructor Luke Spencer. The grant will fund Phase 2 of the US 50 Tourism Project, with students in the Mineral County Technical Center welding program constructing a large, drive through US Route 50 sign. The sign will be installed beside US 50 in Mineral County, creating a unique photo opportunity designed to encourage automobile clubs, motorcycle groups, and other travelers following the historic highway to stop, take pictures, and explore Mineral County. The project is particularly timely as US Route 50 celebrates its 100th anniversary on November 11, 2026. It combines hands on workforce training for local welding students with an investment in tourism and economic development, helping attract visitors and their spending to Mineral County.
