Fair Housing Month

April is being celebrated as Fair Housing Month in Allegany County.  The Fair Housing Act has been in place for 58 years, guaranteeing the right of all Americans to live in the neighborhood of their choice.  Allegany County adopted their own Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity plan 13 years ago, according to Community Development Representative, David Nedved, who says the County has held fast to its tenets…

“Promote the opportunity for each person to obtain housing of such person’s choice in this community without regard to any of the categories stated in the proclamation: race, color, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, familial status, marital status or age or religion.”
