Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson says he is in talks with the Democratic Caucus about a special session sometime this summer to deal with the issue of redistricting. Ferguson, who was initially against redistricting, says he has changed his mind in light of April’s Supreme Court decision that struck down a part of the Voting Rights Act that protected against racial discrimination. Governor Wes Moore is hoping the General Assembly takes action…

“The greatest assault on black voter representation around the country that we have seen in generations. That we are watching a president try to manipulate and change the rules in the middle of the game, and so I would urge him and his colleagues to be able to take this moment seriously.”
