Governor Celebrates Utility Relief Act

Kathy Cornwell

On the last day of this year’s Maryland General Assembly, Governor Wes Moore celebrated passage of the Utility Relief Act, saying it will bring savings to residents, taking time to point out the increased actions of the Trump administration against Iran…

“Democrats and Republicans have come together to say ‘enough. Enough with the gaslighting, our people need relief now.’ Not partisan talking points. Not trickery or blame. Not saying that if I didn’t get what I want, and therefore I’m taking my ball and going home – they need action.”

Senate President Bill Ferguson pointed out particular ways the act will affect data centers in the state…

“That data centers pay their fair share, for the energy they consume, and the infrastructure upgrades that they require. We are proactively addressing a potential PJM large load capacity auction to insure that any associated costs are paid by the data centers, not the residential customers like you and me or small businesses.”
