Judge set to Rule on Ballot Question 3 Maryland Redistricting

A Maryland judge is currently set to rule on a lawsuit filed by House Freedom Caucus, Senate Republican leaders, and the conservative Oversight Project concerning Maryland redistricting. The lawsuit seeks to block Question 3 from appearing on the November ballot. The suit claims that the measure violated state laws. Specifically, it argues that the question needed to be approved by July 1, but it was passed by Democrats earlier this month and approved on August 5. If this measure remains on the ballot and is approved by voters, it would allow Democrats to redraw new Congressional district boundaries, potentially eliminating the Eastern Shore district currently held by Republican Andy Harris.

Maryland’s court must act before September 3, which is the deadline for the state to begin printing and mailing out ballots.
