K-9 Training Seminar Happening in Mineral County

Kathy Cornwell

Mineral County is going to the dogs this week as it is home base for the 35th annual West Virginia Police Canine Association’s Training Seminar.  Captain R.J. Wingler of the Mineral County Sheriff’s Department says they have had their police K-9s certified through the WVPCA since 2001, but this is the first time the training seminar has taken place in the county…

“They travel around the state—like, different departments will host it, and last year they decided that they were gonna try to host one here.  They’re thinking probably between 80-90 K-9 teams from across the state, and they’ll train patrol, narcotics detection, explosives detections, and there’ll be some blood hounds here also.”
