Lighthouse Christian Academy Make It Eight Straight

The Lighthouse Christian Academy Seahawks remained undefeated Friday night with a thrilling 2-1 road victory over Mount Airy Christian Academy, improving to 8-0 and extending their winning streak to eight straight games. After a scoreless first half, Mount Airy struck first in the 56th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Seahawks answered just 71 seconds later when Sammy Scritchfield found Luke Kamauf, who had been moved from his normal defensive position into the attack, and Kamauf finished to tie the game. With the match still tied late, Elijah Ziler delivered a perfectly placed free kick to Scritchfield. Scritchfield controlled the ball off his chest and fired a shot into the right side of the net at the 70:24 mark, giving Lighthouse a 2-1 lead. The Seahawks then locked down defensively to protect the advantage. Silas Leith, Elijah Ziler and Scritchfield helped reinforce the defense, while Ryder Rapson and Jake MacGray played key roles in controlling the midfield. Lighthouse finished with a 10-6 advantage in shots and dominated the corner-kick battle 5-1. The victory was another example of the Seahawks’ ability to respond to adversity, make adjustments and fight together until the final whistle.
