Local Says Area Data Centers Need Careful Consideration

Several counties in Maryland have already passed moratoriums against data centers and local resident David Biser spoke to the Cumberland Mayor and Council about the issue recently.  Biser who has a background in cyber security, said the city should be aware of the possible effects a data center if one would locate here.  Since computer system developments are sourced from the centers, he added that an understanding and balanced approach should be taken…

“A lot of people that are just dead set against them forget that what supports the AI that they use every day on their phones and on their computers and everywhere—pretty much—depends on that.  So, we can’t just do away with them, but we need to manage them carefully.”
