Memorial Day Travel Will Break Record

Triple-A is readying for the busiest Memorial Day weekend on record. Upwards of 45 million travelers are expected to hit the water, road, or sky beginning today. More than 855,000 Marylanders are expected to make trips this weekend. Mark Jenkins with AAA says that despite high fuel costs, people want to get out on the road…

“The majority of people will drive. About 39 million people will hit the road, about 40,000 more people out on the roads than last Memorial Day weekend, so expect congestion out there. The busiest driving days will be on Thursday, Friday, and on Monday. So, our advice would be leave early.”
