Morrissey Disappointed in SNAP Pause

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey is disappointed in the decision by a D.C. District Court that has paused the state’s implementation of new SNAP purchasing rules. The state had received a waiver enabling it to remove the purchase of soda and candy from the SNAP program. Morrisey said other states are working with West Virginia to get the waiver reinstated…
“We think that the way that SNAP was designed, it’s trying to focus on nutrition and I think our decisions are consistent with that. We want nutritious foods for people. We’ll probably be able to provide more context in the upcoming days. We’re trying to collaborate with the other states and DOJ before we reveal our litigation strategy.”
