New School Planning Fall Opening

Faith and Farm Schoolhouse hopes to have its doors open this fall for Kindergarten through second grade. The school will meet at the former Chaneysville Elementary until a new building is completed in Clearville, Pa. Lee Ann Cessna with the school says students will have three hours of intense academics daily, then it’s on to other skills…

“We’re going to expand it into using their hands-on. So like with gardening, we want to teach them about the sciences, the plants, the nature.”

The head teacher and director for the school is Sarah Cessna who is certified in Maryland and Pennsylvania. The school has the goal of teaching skills missing from mainstream education…

“We want to teach them financial literacy. We want them to know how to use their hands. We want them to graduate school and go in to the workforce or into the world, whether they go into college, or whether they go in to a trade, or they open their own business, but we want them to be ready.”
