WV Tourism Director Steps Down

After serving as West Virginia’s Department of Tourism director for nine years, Chelsea Ruby is stepping down. Under Ruby’s tenure, the state’s economic impact of tourism grew to $9 billion last year alone with traveler spending outpacing national tourism spending. Ruby also launched the Almost Heaven brand campaign in 2018. Mineral County Delegate Gary Howell says replacing Ruby is going to be a challenge…
“I think it’s going to be devastating to the state’s tourism. Chelsea is absolutely the best of the best in the nation. We have outgrown the national average by nearly double under her tutelage. It is—I can’t say it enough—it is a devastating loss to the state. I don’t know how we’ll replace her.”
