“Bill Spade was a firefighter on Rescue 5 on September 11th. Spade: I get into work that morning and the firehouse was so lively, everyone was up, a normal breakfast with the firemen, everyone just enjoying it. Then at 8:46 that first plane strikes and everything turns. I got to the hospital around 12:30 that afternoon after surviving both collapses and later that night finding out I was the only survivor from my company and that really hurt hard.”
