Ritchie Retires From Canal Place Authority

The end of June marks the conclusion of 40 years in public service for Dee Dee Ritchie. Ritchie has been the executive director of the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority since 2012. Ritchie spoke to WCBC about her career and what she feels has been the most important…
“If I had to pick an all-time favorite project that would be the River Park. Because it’s going to do so much for the City of Cumberland in so many ways. I believe in that or I never would have pursued it.”
She also had some advice for the new director…
“I would say, you know, anything you do, pause before you make a decision. That’s what I’ve learned. Don’t react. I always like, step back, you know, if something happens. And a lot will happen and it will happen every day.”
