Testimony Given For Solar Farm Along GAP Trail

Twenty-five people testified in person at a hearing this past Thursday regarding placement of a solar farm along Cash Valley Road and the GAP trail. Just two people spoke in favor of the project, one being landowner Robert Talmadge. Among those speaking against the solar farm placement was Chelsea Boor, a Democratic candidate for Allegany County Commissioner who noted that once a project like a solar farm is approved, it is difficult to revisit the decision…
“We should not be rushing into approving large-scale solar on this site without a more complete evaluation of land preservation priorities, community benefit, and alternative locations such as previously disturbed or already industrial land. Tonight’s decision is not just about one parcel of land. It’s about the direction we’re setting for Allegany County’s future.”
