Van Hollen Negative on Spending Bill
A Senate appropriations bill which includes $28 billion dollars for customs enforcement, and immigrations and custom investigations has at least one no-vote waiting to be cast. Maryland US Senator Chris Van Hollen has said that he cannot vote for the spending that supports what he says are the illegal tactics of ICE, including the possible location of a detention center in Hagerstown…
“I looked at the proposal that’s been put before us. It does not begin to reign in ICE sufficiently. It does not adequately protect our constitutional rights. I will be voting ‘no.’”
