Veterans Banners May Have New Home

Discussion surrounding where Cumberland could again place banners honoring area veterans has continued in the last few weeks, and now a solution may be at hand. City Councilman Rock Cioni tells WCBC that Ed Mullaney approached him with an idea that could work…

“Wouldn’t be neat to line Queen City Drive with those because Let’s Beautify Cumberland always has the American flags along it. And then he said, you know Ed, boy he’s never without an idea, what if we renamed it Queen City Veterans Drive?”

Cioni says a group is ready to take up the project but it will take time to make it happen…

“Ideally, we’d have it for Veterans Day and run it through Memorial Day. The Rotary Club is big in this that they’re going to sponsor this again if they’re able to do so and I think they will be. It might be tight to get it done for Veterans Day but maybe by Memorial Day.”
