Victim Identified In August 2 Crash

The victim of the fatal collision on August 2, 2026, on Rt. 144 in Flintstone, MD, has been identified.  The crash occurred around 3am between John Stewart and Old Cumberland Roads. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when responders arrived on scene. The body of the driver was sent to the state medical examiner.

Today, the Office of the Medical Examiner in Baltimore, MD, contacted investigators with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team. Using dental records, investigators positively identified the vehicle’s occupant as Aaron Keith Blackwell, 55, of Johnstown, PA.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Reconstructionist Cpl. A. Plummer. Anyone with information regarding the collision should contact the Sheriff’s Office.
