With 2016 in the books- final numbers crime statistics are available- and when it comes to heroin and opioid- they are simply described as “scary” by Allegany County Sheriff Craig Robertson. The Sheriff, who is in the midst of another series of town hall meetings being held across the county, reports that there were 44 overdose deaths last year- and more than 400 overdoses reported. He says there is a drug more potent than heroin has made its way into Allegany County: Fentanyl. It is a highly potent synthetic opioid – about 100 times stronger than morphine and 50 times strongly than heroin. It takes very little for a user to overdose- as little as the equivalent of four grains of salt. Speaking before the Cumberland Rotary Club, the sheriff says anyone can be impacted by heroin…
