Buglary arrest

December 19th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

On 12/18/2015 a Westernport man was arrested on Burglary related charges after officers responded to a Goethe Street residence for a report of a burglary in progress.  Officers arrived on the scene and observed a suspect exiting the front door of the residence where the burglary was reportedly occurring.  Officers stopped this suspect and then were able to contact the victim in this case who was still on the phone speaking with emergency dispatchers.  Officers conducted an investigation into this incident and found that the victim had been hiding in an adjoining apartment when she heard the suspect pounding on the door to the residence.  The victim was able to see suspect Anthony Orlando Taylor, 53, enter the residence and contacted police.  During this investigation, officers found that Taylor entered the residence without permission and ransacked property inside.  As a result, Taylor was advised that he was under arrest.  As officers attempted to place Taylor under arrest he began to pull away and resist officer’s attempts to place him in restraints.  Taylor was eventually placed under arrest and transported to Cumberland City Police Headquarters where he was charged with the following:

Burglary Third Degree – 1 count

Burglary Fourth Degree – 1 count

Resist/Interfere with Arrest – 1 count

Taylor was processed for the above charges and then transported to the Allegany County District Court for a preliminary hearing before a court commissioner.  Taylor was held on a temporary commitment pending consultation with an attorney.
