Bureau Of Revenue Estimates Releases Report Detailing Impact Of Partial Federal Government Shutdown On Maryland

A  Bureau of Revenue Estimates report released this week details the direct impact the federal government shutdown is having on the State of Maryland. With the impasse reaching a fourth week- Comptroller Peter Franchot says it’s a frustrating and costly situation- with Maryland being hit harder than most.  WBAL reports that the latest numbers found that 172,000 Maryland federal workers are impacted by the shutdown. Specifically, every two weeks, they are not receiving more than $778 million in wages, and the state and local coffers are also being impacted — with a $57.5 million reduction in income tax revenue, and a $2.1 million decrease in sales tax revenue…
