On Monday, 12/08/2014, Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) traveled to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to pick up 28 year old Christopher Lee Linn and return him to Maryland to face charges of Fraud, Theft, and Using False Identification.

            The charges are the result of allegations that were first reported to the Cumberland Police by a local credit union. An investigation by C3I revealed that Linn had obtained the identification of a victim in North Carolina, who he had once worked with while living there. Beginning in August 2014 he began to obtain credit locally while posing as the victim. He was able to obtain over $31,000.00 in credit from several different creditors, and used that credit to purchase numerous items, including an automobile.

            Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Linn. Members of the C3I Warrant/Fugitive Unit learned that Linn was currently living in Chambersburg. Contact was made with the Pennsylvania State Police, who located Linn on 12/02/2014, and arrested him at that time. The vehicle was also located and was recovered as well.

            Linn was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance. He is currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $20,000.00 bond pending his next court appearance.

            Due to the fact that Linn’s crimes occurred in several different states, additional charges are pending in several different jurisdictions.

            The investigation is continuing.
