City Police Searching for Suspect in Stabbing

On July 4, 2016 at 1:12 PM officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 129 Polk Street for a reported stabbing.  Upon the officers arrival they located a male victim who was suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen.  The victim informed officers that he was stabbed in a parking lot at the end of Polk Street.  The victim also told officers that the suspect was a white male with a beard who left the area in a maroon Jeep Cherokee.  According to the victim, he was walking in the alley behind the Polk Street address when he was almost struck by the white male who was driving the Jeep.  During an argument the suspect exited his vehicle and a fight ensued.  During the altercation the suspect pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim.  Officers were able to locate a witness in the area who observed the altercation and later observed the victim running from the area after being stabbed.  The victim was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Cumberland City Police Department at 301-777-1600.
