The Allegany County Commissioners Thursday voted unanimously to adopt the proposed 2016 budget. At $84.5 million it will exceed the 2015 budget by 2.9 percent. The county plans to use $949,319 from the general fund to balance the budget. While there will be a slight decrease of one-tenth of a penny in the real estate tax rate- there will be slight increases in water and sewer rates. Commissioner Jake Shade, participating in his first budget process in office, said its while he has a few concerns, overall he is happy with the final product.
